Autumn 2006 Golf Day - Sweetwoods Park

Event 57 - 15th Sept 2006

We had the pleasure of playing at Sweetwoods Park situated near to Edenbridge & East Grindstead. The day started off with showers but by the time we teed off, the weather was fine and sunny.

John Fish scored an amazing 43 points for an eight shot victory and the biggest in the Society's nineteen year history. Playing off his club handicap of 15 he started with two one pointers and scored 16 front nine. He then birdied the 10th, parred the next four, birdied the 223 yard 15th, bogeyed the next and finished with two more pars (a gross back nine of 1 under).

Paul Jeanes was runner-up, including a birdie on the 4th in his front nine of 20 for a final score of 35. Completing the podium was Richard Walsh. He had four 3-pointers in the first six and a birdie 4 at the 15th for 34. Just missing out were Steve Watson & Peter Hopkins on 33. John's score saw him storm the Championship by ten points from Steve.

The Longest-Drive was won by John Fish on the 3rd hole with Peter Hopkins winning the Nearest-the-Pin at the 17th.

With the original field of sixteen now fifteen, the format was changed foursomes to a team stableford, with 2 from 3 scoring. John Fish continued his day in the same rich vein winning by one point with team mates Paul Jeanes and (guest) Paul Holder.
