Winter 2007/8 meeting at Hoebridge

Event 62 - 23rd Feb 2008

For the first time in three years we had some kind weather. True, it was pretty cold and windy but no snow or soaking wet conditions.
Defending champion Steve Watson started the day with a birdie and his outward 18 looked to put him in contention. A blob at 10 and three other one-pointers saw him fall away to finish on 31. In our second group Pammi Channa was out in the days best of 19 points. He crucially only scored one point over 13 & 14 but recovered for a final 36 points. Playing Partner Ian Cooper was also doing well and scored on very hole. With his six dropped shots he finished on 32. Barry Hough was the pick of group three. A birdie and five pars with shots saw him take third on 33. That just left group four. John Fish scrambled his way to sixteen for the front nine. His back nine was pretty special, five pars in the last seven holes for  a level handicap 36. John therefore won the Winter Stableford on the countback with Pammi as runner up.
