Summer 2001 Trip to East Sussex
Event 37 - 13th/14th July 2001
| For our sixth Summer event, we had a round dozen and we stayed at
the superb Dormy house at Seaford Golf Club. Food and accommodation
was
excellent and highly recommended and there is no doubt that we will be
returning some time in the future. |

Eclectic at Seaford
Peter Hopkins was able to meld two rounds of 30 and 32 into
a winning score of 47 and win his first Eclectic Stableford at Seaford
golf club. Conditions were sunny but very windy with Mark Staples
scoring the morning's best of 31. The wind eased off in the afternoon
with Al Nawrocki scoring an excellent 38 and Peter Hooper the next best on 34.
Yet the event is about improving in the afternoon on those you did
badly in the morning and there also bonuses for any hole of better
than two net pars. And that's exactly what Peter Hopkins did to win by
3 points.

Medal at Seaford Head
Peter Hopkins completed an amazing double by
winning the medal event too, an event he had also won in 1999. With four
players all shooting below handicap in the sunny and slightly windy
conditions, he pipped Al Nawrocki who had shot a 66 (-5). Peter went one
better with a 65 for the par 71 course. Paul Walker playing off 8 shot a
68 and played the back nine in 1 under par gross.
