Autumn 2003 Meeting at Westerham

For our 33rd golf day we did not have to travel far to Westerham. The weather was good after a brief grey spell we had sunshine for the rest of the long day. Peter Hooper in match 2 was setting the early pace, 20 pts for the first nine and with a final score of 35 for third. Playing partner Bob Torreson would eclipse this, 17 going out and then 21 coming back could even afford with a blob on the last. Bob's 38 was enough to give him second win in the Stableford Trophy. Colin Fish made up the podium. He has d the unusual round of doubling his outward nine on the back nine. Splits of 12 and 24 gave him runner-up spot on 36. The spot prizes were won by Colin Fish for Longest Drive on the uphill 10th and Shailen Patel for the Nearest the Pin at the downhill 13th. The club could not stick to our 2pm afternoon tee-off and we teed off 45 minutes late. We were also down to 17 as someone was celebrating the 50th and now decided to skip the afternoon. A members decided to scrap the foursomes in favour of singles again. The afternoon winner was John Cooper who scored 34 playing off 25. Mark Staples & Al Nawrocki both scored 32. Steve Watson lying 4th in the 4-round Championship scored 32 in the morning and overhauled the three in front to win the title by one point.
