Spring 1997 Golf Day - Singing Hills

Event 21 - 19th May 1997

Golf day number twenty attracted a good field of twenty-five including two new but current Woodvale footballers. Andy Hobbs won the Guest's prize with his 33 points but poor old Damian Aldous was left to prop up the field with his 24. Al Nawrocki achieved what no other had done before in successfully retaining his Stableford crown. His faultless round of 41 gave him a three shot winning margin to retain the Stableford Trophy. The consistent Gary Pitt was runner-up on the countback from Richard Walsh both on 38 pts. Al was one of the six winners from last year also competing in the Winners Salver which he also won. This makes him eligible for next years Salver competition too.

Peter Hooper won the Nearest-the-Pin at the xxxx. The Longest Drive was won by Paul Jeanes with a 270 yard drive. In the Texas Scramble the team of Paul Jeanes, Peter Miles and Richard Walsh shot four birdies in a gross 67 (-2) for a net 66.6 and victory by just over two shots. Just one team failed to make a birdie, the team in sixth place.
