Autumn 2005 Golf Day - Royal Eastbourne

The sun shone on our nineteen who made the long trip to Royal Eastbourne.
The course was in great condition though the greens were quite slow for
a coastal course.
Steve Watson a previous three-times winner burnt the course up in the last match out. Playing off 9, he scored 41 points, with a gross +4 and no blobs. Peter Hopkins without a top-three place for some time was runner-up on 37. The ever consistent Gary Pitt scored 34 for third just beating Paul Jeanes on the countback. With the morning scores counting towards the Championship there were plenty of changes in the top places. Steve Watson, some ten points behind leapt from sixth to first. |

The Longest-Drive was won by Gary Pitt at the 12th, for his tenth win of
this event. The Nearest-the-Pin at the downhill 15t was won by guest
Steve Martin.
The afternoon foursomes went down to one point. Peter Hopkins and his guest Ron Pinsent scored 34 to win this one. Colin Fish and his guest Reg Salkilld were a point behind on 33. |
