Spring 2005 Event at Liphook
Event 51 - 18/5/2005
| A fantastic golf day was held at Liphook in Hampshire, nice weather and a course in fabulous condition. It was a great test with fast undulating greens. For the umpteenth time it went to the countback. Double winner Colin Fish made it a hat-trick as his back nine of 20 from a total 36 gave him victory in the Stableford Trophy. Terry Winsall was runner-up and Gary Pitt third. Gary has had a top three finish in over a third of the 34 comps that he has played in. Nice to see a guest winning a prize (a guest has to come in the top six) with Mark Savage in fourth. | |

The Nearest-the-Pin fooled most people as most came up up short at the
11th. Not Barry Hough who won this for the first time. Gary Pitt continued
his dominance in the Longest-Drive with an enormous drive at the 12th
(playing in the first match).
The afternoon foursomes again proved another good test and it seemed as though Paul Jeanes and Barry Hough with an outward 19 would continue through to victory. However Steve Watson and Terry WInsall amassed a staggering 24 on the back nine with just three dropped shots for a winning score of 40. |
