Autumn 2004 Golf Day - Knole Park

Event 49 - xxth Sept 2004

Our 35th golf day was a trip to the Knole Park golf club, near Sevenoaks. A great course, very friendly and popular with all our members. A return trip looks on the cards, perhaps in a few years time.

Eventually Mark Staples had his day. With previous near misses, Mark eventually won the Stableford trophy with a superb score of 36 on this tough course, and particularly the greens that were lightening fast. His round really took off on the back nine with birdies at 13th, 14th and 15th and even shaved the next for a birdie. He could even afford a blob at the 17th. John Fish half-way leader on 18 finished on 32 with Paul Jeanes the only other to score at least 30 in third one point behind. Five points covered the next eleven players.

In the afternoon Foursomes two teams were well ahead of the rest. Paul Jeanes and Shailen Patel came from behind with a 3,3,2 pts finish for a winning 34. Rob Dyson & Terry Winsall just missed out on 33, with only two points on the last three holes. The next four pairs all scored 28.

With his two nearest rivals unable to make the trip this time, Steve Watson retained the Championship despite his worst of four scores.
