Autumn 1988 event at Coulsdon Court

Event 3 - 20th Sept 1988

GolferThe third Woodvale Golf Day saw most of the the field tear the course apart with some unbelievably high scoring in the perfect summery conditions, Peter Hooper was the early clubhouse leader on 41 to be then overtaken by Dave Frampton on 42. These scores as it turned out would not be good enough for a top three spot.

Guest Ian Foulsham took third with 44 and shot to within 4' 2" at the sixth for the nearest-the-pin. Richard Frampton shot a superb +11 for a staggering 47 points to win the Stableford competition. Playing partner Kevin Fitzgerald scored 45 for back-to-back runner-up spots.

In the afternoon the players did not relent, the entire field only dropping three shots on the course. There was a three way tie on -1 which went to the countback. The trio of Robin Dyson, Kevin Fitzgerald and John Tidy took this on the back 6. Robin had won this on the previous event too! To complete the day Ian Foulsham won the first ever longest-drive at the 18th for a hat-trick of prizes.
