Autumn 1987 Golf Day - Addington Palace

14th Sept 1987

The Inaugural event was held at Addington Palace Golf Club on Monday 14th September with a field of 9 players from Woodvale Wanderers FC. The format for the day was two rounds of Stableford and maximum handicaps were set at 36. The days started with a haze but turned out to to be a hot one!

Richard Frampton (midfielder) had a brilliant morning round of 43 points and led the field. Striker Neil Booth was in second with 40 pts and Captain and midfielder Neil Moir was lying third on 39. The afternoon pairings saw Richard and Neil M as playing partners in the last three ball. Neil maintained his form but Richard could not sustain his. Neil made up the gap and it was neck and neck with two holes to play. Neil Moir finished the stronger for a one point victory with an afternoon's 39 and a total of 78.

 

There were three nearest-the-Pin competitions. The main one was in the morning round at the fountain hole (12th) won by Neil Moir win. The two afternoon winners were Gary Pitt & Paul Simmonds.
